Get Involved

A large and ever evolving issue, the BP Oil Spill has had far reaching ramifications.  It has devastated the region’s economy and its people — including a fishing industry that was one-third Vietnamese American.  The extent and expanse of the situations means that all people, regardless of geography or identity, can assist the Gulf Coast in many ways.

Take Action | Get Involved:

• The Viet Gulf Coast Solidarity Network meets in the Bay Area to discuss strategy, action steps, recent developments in the region and in the media, and events.  All are welcome to attend.  Please email vietnamita1 at gmail.com for more info if you would like to get involved.
  
• Prior to assisting the efforts on the ground, check out groups that have already laid the foundation and may need your help:  The Vietnamese American Bar Association of Northern California (VABANC) and the Vietnamese American Young Leaders Association of New Orleans (VAYLA-NO)
• Join our List-Serv for updates about our latest events, meetings, and get-togethers.  Contact vietnamita1 at gmail.com to stay in the loop!

Volunteer:

Volunteers are Needed to help Vietnamese in the Gulf Coast.

You can:

1) Volunteer for 3-12 months in the Gulf Coast (New Orleans, Biloxi,)

2) Join a delegation that will lead solidarity work in your community.

3) Volunteer remotely (fundraising, grantwriting, communications, online media)
